Reset
by Tracey Rich
Don't Go Back to Sleep
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don't go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don't go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth
across the doorsill
where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don't go back to sleep.

Everyone is looking for the pandemic to end. Yearning for an end to suffering, limitation, and separation with a large list of things we would love to resume. But does resuming your life include a real reset or simply going back to sleep?
Can you have a reset that includes the incorporation of meaningful insights and moments gleaned and experienced from this unprecedented time? Could simplicity be your new high? Could going slower be more interesting? Would accruing less be a road to freedom?
As creatures of habit, it is amazing how quickly we are able to resume unconscious patterns, whether in our exuberance to throw off the restraints of staying put, or in our plentiful unexamined desires, or simply in expressing pent up energy. Like the wonderful line in the Rumi poem states, Don't go back to sleep.
Reemerging into the joy of more options and more perceived and real freedom of movement could offer an opportunity to move through your life with more love, more care and more attention.
What does a reset look like to you? Will you change anything? Will you see differently? What will you take with you across the threshold? What will you ask for?
