Ganga's Not-Too-Sweet Super Charged Smoothie
Ganga's smoothie recipe is super packed with energy. It uses an Eden Organic Rice-Soy milk and carrot juice as its base. This smoothie is loaded with Omega's 3, 6 and 9 from both hemp hearts and chia seeds which also deliver high protein and are a great source of inulin fiber. Inulin increases calcium absorption and possibly magnesium absorption, while promoting the growth of intestinal bacteria. It is sometimes categorized as a prebiotic. We use Gaia Herbs Chia Fresh which comes in a 100% biodegradable container (yes!) and can be found through www.gaiaherbs.com. The Super Charged Smoothie is not too sweet but tastes nutty and really rich and delish! Studies show that cultures who eat nuts and seeds regularly as a part of their weekly diet are amongst the cultures that enjoy the greatest longevity.
We welcome you to try this super cool smoothie and then encourage you to go crazy, get creative, and flow with your own smoothie blend. Like our White Lotus approach to yoga, it's ultimately very flexible.
Recipe:
Serves 1-2
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups Eden Organic Rice-Soy Milk (substitute almond, hemp, coconut or dairy if you like)
¾ cup fresh squeezed carrot juice
2 heaping tsps. chia seeds
2 Tbs hemp hearts
8-10 walnuts (or other nuts of your choice)
1 ½ scoops of whey protein powder (or other protein powder, if you choose)
1 small cored Fuji or Pink Lady apple (or apple of your choice)
In a blender add the rice-soy milk and carrot juice. Then add chia, hemp hearts, walnuts and protein powder. Finally, add the apple cored and cut into quarters. Blend all ingredients on low speed for 30 seconds to a minute then increase the speed for another minute or until all ingredients are smooth. Blending too high, too quickly will cause the protein powder to form lumps and cling to the side of your blender and will not puree the nuts and seeds well enough. If this smoothie is not sweet as you would like, add a little blue agave syrup. Blend, pour and power up!
