Vitamin NNatureAnd a Few Wonderful Gifts to Share“Look deep into nature, and you will understand everything better.” –Albert Einstein We are a part of nature. We are not separate from nature. By going into what we call nature, we move deeper into parts of ourselves. Nature also, mercifully, takes us outside of ourselves. It soothes us. It teaches us. It reflects back to us. It brings healing qualities to us. It nurtures and feeds us. There is nothing like the vastness of nature to inspire. Or the tiniest, reassuring presence of nature like a shimmer of green in a crack in a sidewalk, catching our attention, thrilling and reminding us of nature’s endurance, strength, and vitality. Vast green open spaces. Infinite blue oceans and skies. These are the places our souls can rest. They open and calm our minds. Forests full of oxygen and the richness of green fill our eyes and lungs with a feeling of peace and freedom. We are embraced. We are inspired. We are held. And, yes, sometimes we are terrified by the awe and power that nature holds. Take time to put your feet on the earth. Look up at the sky both in the night and the day. Plant a garden. There are infinite ways to connect with nature and with yourself. We share with you two beautiful creations... Learning the art of balance. When we notice our tendencies to swing too far to one side or the other with things such as over-eating or under-exercising, we yearn to get in balance. It’s a natural desire to feel good in our bodies, hearts, and minds. So how to stay cool in heated times? We may sound like a broken record, but breathe. Learn to stay in touch with your breath. The Quiet Part Out LoudMany people say that meditation is stilling your mind. Sometimes people feel unsuccessful when in a sitting practice they recognize that their mind is moving and full. The Sanskrit word for to measure is maya. It is also the word for illusion. Supposing that your mind should be still is a set-up for the maya of the measuring stick that is an illusion. Discovering how your mind moves and what it is full of may be the observation that has more of a relationship to meditation.
